Pop Culture Detox-September/99
Mr. David Gedge (the Wedding Present, Cinerama) would be proud. Airshow, the latest release by Canada's Parts Unknown, starts off with distorted vocals on Verdant Green. There's a bit of a punk vibe to it. The rest of the album goes on to mix jangly guitars, pouty vocals, some synth usage, and some goth and punk influences. Personal favourites on this album would have to be Last Incarnation and Paddy O'Donnell for their pop sound. These seem to be the more straight forward songs, music-wise, on the album. It's no secret which artists influcence Parts Unknown. Fans of the Wedding Present will find enjoyment in this one. - Cindy Wong
